Books Circulation Rules at IMI Library
i. Borrowing facilities are given only to the members of the library. Documents can be borrowed only against the library card issued to individuals. The borrower ticket is non-transferable.
ii. The holder of the library card is responsible for library documents issued in the account, as per the library records.
iii. Library members should produce their library card at the counter at the time of issue and return of books.
iv. Periodicals, newspapers and books in the reference section are not available for borrowing.
v. For reissuing a book, it is necessary to present the book at the counter. Reissue does not happen automatically. If there is a pending demand for the book, the request for reissue may be turned down by the library.
vi. During examination time, books issued for a week or overnight will not be reissued.
vii. Librarian can recall books and other library documents any time if the need arises.
viii. If the book is not returned by the due date, the defaulting member will be charged a fine of Rs. 5/- per day per volume for General Books and Rs. 10/- per day per volume for Reference/Overnight Books.
ix. Library can refuse to issue books to members having unpaid dues.

If a member loses a book against his/her ticket, the penalty will be as follows:
i. He/she will have to replace the document(s) lost or pay the current price of the document(s).
ii. If the book is not easily available in the market, then the loser would pay 15% extra of the last known cost of the document(s).
iii. If the member loses his/her borrower’s ticket, he/she shall make a written report to the librarian. On request, a duplicate ticket may be issued. However, the member will have to pay Rs. 50/- for each duplicate ticket required.
